Timeline and information

As being stuck between two big nations, China and Russia, Mongolia had to act fast at the beginning of the spreading of the coronavirus to prevent the virus from entering.

In mid-February, Mongolia decided to close the borders with these two countries and to forbid the entering and leaving of its bigger cities, including capital Ulaanbaatar. Because of these preventative measures, the government of Mongolia could stop the early spreading of the virus from its cities to its more remote areas.

The country has so far reported 11 cases of the coronavirus. Over two thousand returning Mongolians from abroad have been put in quarantine as of March 27.
