Timeline and information

Kazakhstan imposed travel bans for people coming from China on March 18. The Asian country also decided to cancel all big events.

On March 26, the government announced a lockdown for their two biggest cities, Almaty and Nur-Sultan. Residents of these two cities have to stay inside and may only go outside for necessary reasons, like going to work or to buy food or medicines.

All public transport in the capital Nur-Sultan will be scaled down and meetings of more than three people in public are no longer allowed until further notice.

Kazakhstan announced their first corona related death on Thursday, March 26.
